Fairness is a unicorn
There is no such thing as fair. Or, if there is, we cannot possibly achieve it in this mortal life. To create a perfectly fair, just, or equitable arrangement between two parties would require perfect knowledge of both parties and the values of all factors affecting both parties. Only God has such knowledge. The rest of us can’t possibly know what any person truly deserves or what is truly the fair balance between two parties to a dispute.
Therefore, do not seek fairness in your life. The more you try to make things fair, the more you will feel that nothing is fair, that you never have received your due, and that you have been slighted or shorted. The more you pursue fairness, especially for yourself, the more frustrated and angry you will be.
Instead, seek to give yourself away. In any exchange, ensure that its effect for you is a net loss, a net donation. Live your life so that you will die with nothing. I do not refer strictly to wealth, either. I mean, give of yourself, your identity, so that by the time you die, you will have no remaining concern for who you are or what you have.
